Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

Facial Rejuvenation or Cosmetic Acupuncture is a gentle and health stimulating cosmetic procedure that utilizes the insertion of ultra-fine acupuncture needles into the face to increase Qi (chi – the body’s energy) and blood flow.

The techniques of Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory are the cornerstone of this anti-aging treatment. A basic tenet of the medicine is that your outside reflects the status of your health on the inside, therefore the focus of these treatments is to promote balancing of the body’s energetic systems while stimulating local results on the face.

A combination of gentle facial needling, cupping, gua sha and acupressure may be used to treat energetic imbalances and also increase collagen. During the session, your skin will be cleansed, massaged, gently exfoliated, toned and moisturized. Diet and lifestyle recommendations may also be discussed.

Besides seeing cosmetic results, you may also expect general health results such as changes/improvements in areas such as:

  • Digestive function – which further improves the skin
  • Reduction of hot flashes and night sweats
  • Reduction of mild depression and or anxiety
  • Increased energy

The standard treatment protocol is 10-12 successive weekly treatments with a monthly maintenance treatment thereafter. More noticeable results can be seen around the 5th treatment.

You are more than welcome to pop in for this relaxing treat any time however progressive and lasting results are dependent on the full protocol.

When possible, arrive make-up free to allow for maximum treatment time.

Facial acupuncture can be helpful for a variety of concerns, including:

  • Reduction of fine lines and a levelling of deeper lines
  • Minimization and further prevention of jowls
  • Improvement in elasticity and collagen formation
  • Improvement in acne and rosacea
  • Improvement in overall skin tone
  • May reduce areas of hyperpigmentation and discolouration
  • Skin becomes softer, smoother and more vibrant

  • Maximizing results

Acupuncture works cumulatively in a series of treatments, so we encourage you to experience what it has to offer by committing to your treatment plan. Each treatment builds on the last and if your symptoms are returning before your next visit, book in as soon as possible.

  • Frequency and number of visits

Ideally, we would like to see you at least weekly as long as symptoms continue to improve. This is dependent on the condition being treated and how long you have been experiencing symptoms.

Acute conditions improve more quickly than chronic. If you have experienced symptoms for more than a year you may not expect to see results until around the 8th– 10th treatment and can expect at least a month of weekly treatments for every year you have experienced the symptoms. If your symptoms are more acute within the last few months, you may see more significant improvements around the 4th-6th treatment.

Once improvements have stabilized, monthly visits are usually recommended to maintain your progress.

For facial acupuncture, the standard treatment protocol is 10 successive weekly treatments with a monthly maintenance appointment thereafter. More noticeable results can be seen around the 5th treatment. You are more than welcome to pop in for this relaxing treat any time however progressive and lasting results are dependent on the full protocol.
