Cupping

Cupping is a non-invasive treatment in which negative surface pressure (suction) is applied to move stagnation from an area of the body and improve the efficacy of the nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems.

Cupping is utilized to impact general malaise, including assisting to manage onset and symptoms relating to cold and flu, mild depression, headaches, anxiety, body aches, pain and fatigue. This is also a great therapy for pre and post workout recovery (facilitating fluid in the muscles and excretion of lactic acid) in addition to smoothing the appearance of cellulite.

Post cupping skin discolouration is a normal reaction of the treatment and if present, generally resolves within a few days to a week.

Avoidance of cold wind, hot baths and strenuous exercise is strongly recommended post treatment because the techniques temporarily strip the body’s protective layer in order to vent toxins.

  • Maximizing results

Acupuncture works cumulatively in a series of treatments, so we encourage you to experience what it has to offer by committing to your treatment plan. Each treatment builds on the last and if your symptoms are returning before your next visit, book in as soon as possible.

  • Frequency and number of visits

Ideally, we would like to see you at least weekly as long as symptoms continue to improve. This is dependent on the condition being treated and how long you have been experiencing symptoms.

Acute conditions improve more quickly than chronic. If you have experienced symptoms for more than a year you may not expect to see results until around the 8th-10th treatment and can expect at least a month of weekly treatments for every year you have experienced the symptoms. If your symptoms are more acute within the last few months, you may see more significant improvements around the 4th-6th treatment.

Once improvements have stabilized, monthly visits are usually recommended to maintain your progress.
