Reiki

Reiki comes from two Japanese words – ‘rei” meaning God’s wisdom or higher power and ‘ki” meaning life force energy. The literal translation is “spiritually guided life force energy”. Reiki is based on the idea that life and energy come from the “ki” flowing through and around a person. “Ki” is also called “prana” or “chi” and is responsible for our body functioning in a healthy way. Western medicine has recently made big strides in recognizing the mind/body connection. Reiki is natural and safe, and can help you move through spiritual and energetic blockages.

In Reiki, ki is transmitted through the hands of the practitioner to the person receiving the session. You should expect to feel calm, peaceful and balanced after a session. Reiki is a wonderful complement to any additional therapy.

What can you expect?

  • Preparing for your session

Take some time to reflect on your intention for your session.

Make sure you have eaten and are well hydrated.

    Be dressed comfortably.

Prepare to lie down or be in a quiet, meditative state for the duration of your session.

  • During your session

To start with, we will discuss your relevant health history as well as what you are hoping to work on through this session. You will set an intention or an affirmation. This can be general such as “I want to be happy” to more specific “I want to be able to sleep through the night and not wake up at 3 am.” Your intention or affirmation for the session will help shape the session.

You may feel sensations of heat or coolness, pins-and-needle tingles, vibrational buzzing, throbbing, itchiness, relaxation or sleepiness throughout your session. You may also feel nothing at all. Please trust that the energy is going exactly where it needs to go. The experience is subjective, changeable and subtle.

  • After your session

I will touch base with you for 15 minutes and offer any suggestions on what I felt/saw and share whatever downloads or impressions I received during your session. You may share what you experienced as well. This is optional and based on your own comfort level.

  • Integrating after a reiki session

I recommend you spend the evening in a quiet and reflective way.

Drink plenty of water and eat a nutritious, well-balanced meal.

You may feel more tired in the evening.

A Note on Distance Healing
Distance reiki is done in the same way as an in-person session. We will connect and chat about your intention, you will receive reiki and afterwards there will be a chance for discussion and connection. Distance healing is just as effective as your energy body does not exist in set time & space and can be accessed by me at an agreed upon time. It is best that you set aside the hour we will be working together. Both of our focused intention on your overall well-being is powerful!
