Warming Turmeric Mylk Recipe

Is there anything more satisfying than a cup of something warm and tasty? These days, it’s cold outside and life is just so busy… but the simple act of relaxing with a comforting drink can be incredibly therapeutic. I know it’s easy to reach for a sugar-packed hot chocolate or specialty coffee, but of course I recommend giving your body some love with a healthier option!

One of my absolute favourites is Turmeric Mylk. It’s sweet, spicy, warming, comforting, and exactly what I need after a long day. Not only that, it is also high in antioxidants, has anti-inflammatory properties, and can offer a calming effect when enjoyed before bedtime. All in all, it’s the perfect drink to incorporate into your evening routine during this stressful time of the year!

My recipe calls for coconut milk, but you’re welcome to swap it out for your preferred milk option. I personally like to use a combination of half unsweetened coconut milk from a carton, and half full-fat canned coconut milk, because I find this gives me the optimal level of creaminess! Again, I recommend that you experiment with different options to find the best combination for you. This drink is also extremely delicious with the addition of 1 tsp of cacao powder… but regardless of modifications, I recommend that the finished product is enjoyed in a peaceful place, away from all distractions. Turmeric Mylk

Serves 1

Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups coconut milk (either unsweetened from a carton, or full-fat from a can, depending how creamy you like it)
  • 2 tsp turmeric
  • 1.5 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 inch piece of fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • pinch of black pepper
  • pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 tsp raw & unpasteurized honey (or more to taste)
Directions:
  1. Combine all ingredients, except for honey, in a small food processor or blender and blend until smooth.

  2. Warm mixture in a small pot over medium heat until hot, but not boiling.

  3. Stir in honey to achieve your desired level of sweetness.
