With a vast array of cleaners out there these days, to clean and disinfect our homes, we think we are doing ourselves good by creating a germ free, sanitary environment. But what we don’t realize is that we are actually bombarding ourselves with many toxic chemicals, many of which cause skin irritations, endocrine disruption and can contribute to other health issues.
And while many folks choose to make their own cleaning products at home using quite simple, yet effective ingredients, the task seems like just another item on the list of things to do. But good news is there are some great brands out there, made from simple ingredients, don’t disrupt the hormones and do a great job cleaning!
Small Planet Cleaning products
These products are really great! It’s a refreshing feeling when you can read all the ingredients and don’t need to look up anything on Google.
Some favourites from their line are the Squeaky Clean Scrub which can be used for the entire bathroom, even the floors and expect to see great results.
Another great product is the See-thru cleaner. It’s streak free and one of the great things about it is that is mists everywhere, but not too worry about it contaminating anything, especially food if using it in the kitchen. It is a great window cleaner, but it is also great as a deodorizer, floor cleaner and fresh enough that you could use it for your yoga mat.
Not only are they locally made, these products are decently priced and a little goes a long way. They are made from mostly vinegar and essential oils making them skin, lung, environment and family friendly. One step away from making them yourself! It can be a bit confusing when looking for products that are actually green, when so many say that they are environmentally friendly. And although there are many good companies out there, there are still ones that aren’t as honest as you might think.
Look for companies that disclose their ingredients and make sure you know what to look out for. Choose companies that care about the environment and have sustainable practices. And if you are game, there are many cleaners that can be made super quick with simple ingredients.
