carla’s coconut sugar body scrub recipe

Nothing looks and feels better than healthy, glowing skin! Our skin is our first line of defence, which is a big job for those hard working cells. Nothing says appreciation like a little TLC! Carla’s Coconut Sugar Body Scrub recipe is loaded with skin quenching vitamins and is so easy to make that a child could do it! In fact, why not invite your little ones to help make this recipe? Everything used in this scrub is all-natural and safe for younger participants to partake in its creation. However, be careful not to get the scrub in anyone’s eyes and remember that although it smells delicious and you can technically eat it, you probably shouldn’t due to its taste factor.

It has only 3 ingredients, is easy-as-pie to make, and each of the ingredients is chalked full with health promoting benefits! Most importantly, it is all natural. Considering that June is Environment month at Naturmend, we are working hard to promote green living, and that includes educating people on how to minimize their toxic load via cutting out many conventional products containing chemicals that can be harmful to the body.

Coconut Sugar2 cups Coconut Palm Sugar (Navitas Naturals’ product works well, and we carry it at Naturmend for $10.50 for 450 g. It is also a low-glycemic sugar alternative that you can bake and sprinkle on things in addition to making natural body products.)

What does it do?

  • Works hard to slough off dead skin cells which aids in detoxification.
  • Helps your skin retain moisture, leaving you with a healthy summer glow.

Sweet Almond Oil1 cup Sweet Almond Oil

What does it do?

  • Deep nourishing natural moisturizer that helps skin retain its youthful appearance.
  • Lightens dark circles.
  • Relieves dry, itchy skin.
  • Improves complexion.

Rose Essential Oil15-25 drops of Rose Essential Oil (I love Pure Potent Wow, a company coming fromthe Naramata Bench, BC, that uses only high quality and ethically produced ingredients, also available at Naturmend.)

What does it do?

  • Acts as an antiseptic and astringent, but is non-drying due to its emollient properties which help to retain moisture in the skin.
  • Serves as an anti-inflammatory which can help reduce redness and restore balance to the skin.
  • Aromatherapeutic for stress relief and relaxation support.
